Many people have marvelled at my new career choice - to study to become a wedding celebrant. But as I explained to them it is not so much a new path rather my destiny!

So what is a Wedding Celebrant?

Today we are filled with so many choices whether that be life choices or even daily choices of where to buy a cup of coffee, the same is true when you want to publicly and legally commit to your partner. You may decide you want to be ‘married’ or prefer to commit to a ‘civil partnership’. Whatever legal partnership you both choose, the important thing to remember is that you love each other and want this formally recognised.

A Celebrant is not someone who can legally formalise your union - they help you to create a non-religious ceremony designed to herald the start of your life together. Before your Celebrant-led wedding celebration you must complete legal paperwork and have your wedding or civil partnership formally recognised by a Registrar at a Registry Office.

Creating a bespoke Ceremony

With the legal work completed, you can bring together family and friends to celebrate - that’s where a Celebrant really helps. They will work with you to create a personalised ceremony.

This can even include creating your own vows or life promises, plus symbolic actions from walking down the aisle to exchanging rings. You are free to include whatever music, poems or readings you want and to hold it wherever you want!

The idea of a Celebrant led ceremony is to offer you complete freedom and control to make the day completely yours and unique. After all, this is your wedding day!
